I have an airwheel x3 unicycle with 2015 battery. I am trying to replace the cells which are not labled on the plastic but have 18500 eb002 01:40S19 on the metal case. Now, I see 18650 cells advertise having a continous 10A discharge rate safely while 18500 cells only seem to have a discharge rate of about 2A. I am trying to find out 2 things. 1. does the present BMS require 18500's? Can it tell somehow the size (same chemistry) as the 18650 to safely charge these or would it sense it as a fault if they charge longer? Is there specific BMS boards to charge and use these 2 sizes of cells? I would like to upgrade the cell size for longer run time if possible but I am afraid that the 18650s might catch fire if mismatched with this board.
